These bushings eliminate aluminum to aluminum contact for a throttle feel that rivals a ball bearing - yet won't corrode and freeze up like metal bearings.
With professional off-road champions like 8 time National Enduro Champion Mike Lafferty using G2 products, it's no wonder that others are catching on. The new G2 throttle tubes are a vast improvement over stock tubes - offering riders more throttle control resulting in faster times, improved rider stamina and smooth operation. Delrin is lightweight, low-friction, wear resistant and self-lubricating -- a far superior alternative to ball bearing tubes which degrade over time.

Sam Wancket, co-owner of G2 Ergonomics, says, "In the future, all our tubes will include the Delrin inserts, the response to them has been great."

G2 Ergonomics burst onto the motorcycle performance market five years ago when co-owners and riding buddies Sam Wancket and Gary Gibbs were discussing how to improve lap times on the track. They prototyped and developed the G2 throttle cam system which gives riders the option to change cams based on riding conditions. With overwhelming response from the base of riders out there, they have expanded their product line to other markets such as street, ATV, and Harley Davidson.

G2 has made their mark on the motorcycle performance market with constant product upgrades and innovations. With the G2 Quick-Turn Throttle tube and Quick-Turn throttles for Harley Davidson, they show no signs of stopping either.

Riders currently using G2 products are Mike Lafferty, Grant Langston, Paul Whibley, Broc Sellards, Yamaha Supermoto Team, Paul Edmondson and John Dowd. They are planning the release of more products this year and early next year. We can't wait.

Want FREE Energy, Read this ?

Inventor Develops an Electrical Apparatus That Produces FREE Energy

TAMPA, Fla., Feb. 5, 2008 (ERN)- Alternative energy researcher and inventor O'Keefe Natheniel Douglas has recently developed an apparatus for duplicating electrical power as it flows through a bypass circuit whereas the primary power remains unaltered and the duplicated induced energy increases the sum of the output power to become greater than the input power.

Unlike a transformer, the Duplicator is connected in a series with the load. The Duplicator harnesses the changing magnetic flux of the passing current to generate additional current into an independent circuit. Electron drift is comprised of electromotive force in random directions. The Duplicator's inductive line of force simply navigates a portion of this drift into a selected direction, thus, generating an electric current, preferably described as duplicated current. Duplication requires no energy transfer or energy depletion, therefore, there is no electrical energy lost within the main circuit.

Power Duplicator will amplify electrical energy on both small and large scale, without limitation to the number of duplications. The duplicated energy can also be connected in parallel with the passing energy - and in series with another Duplicator. The interconnection between Duplicators, series and parallel, are infinite. A relatively small electrical energy source is required to initiate the duplicating reaction. The technology will diminish and undermine the need for nuclear energy conversion plants and long-distance power plants. Because the Duplicator converts and duplicates all forms of electrical energy (alternating and direct), the technological implementations are quite versatile, thus allowing the adaptation for integration and mobility.

It is impelling to discuss in brief its ancestor - the transformer. Transformers may be used to manipulate current and voltage, a very unique trait. Electrical transformers have the potential to multiply current indefinitely within its primary circuit, and voltage indefinitely within its secondary circuit - limited only to engineering. Transformers, similar to the Duplicator, amplify power. Without this amplification, modern transformers would never exceed 45 percent efficiency. For any type of induction, the inducing power has to be twice the induced power in order to cancel opposing force of the induced and to sustain induction. Transformers held the key to power amplification, yet mutual induction retards their full potential. Power Duplicator provides the necessary modifications transformer technology lacks for efficient power amplification.

The challenge started around seven years ago. The inventor was driving through rural Georgia and could not help but notice the miles and miles stretch of high-tension power lines along the highway. He wondered to himself, "What if I could tap into the varying magnetic field these wires produced to obtain free energy?" He later started the research project "In Search of FREE Energy." Advance research into transformer technology provided assurance that fuels his determination - yet still there was a missing link. On September 19th, 2007 he found it.

Innovative Travel Device Could Save Your Life

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_oDC_h1gp9v0/R5d3voi-uPI/AAAAAAAAAWA/8EJdiAj-jHQ/s400/559.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5158723558397884658" />

Developed in the UK by FlareBrands Limited, FlareSafe is an innovative 3-in-1 travel safety device that combines an optical smoke detector, a powerful LED flashlight, and a personal sonic alarm. Anyone planning a trip that includes spending a few nights in bed and breakfasts, hostels, boats or less-than-glamorous hotels should make sure to pack a FlareSafe.

FlareSafe's independently tested, self-calibrating smoke alarm has a 110-db siren that will jolt you awake at the first waft of smoke. The flashlight turns on automatically to the full-beam setting, making it easy to grab the unit and help you get out of the building.

The personal alarm uses the same 110-db alarm to create a piercing sonic flare that will discourage attackers and get instant attention. At the same time the flashlight automatically turns on to strobe mode, providing both a visual and audible signal of distress to others.

The LED flashlight has three working settings: at full-beam the FlareSafe produces a 20 meter beam for 10 hours; at half-beam it is perfect for 50 hours of reading; and in SOS strobe mode it runs for 100 hours visible from up to two kilometers.

FlareSafe was developed as a response to a tragic fire in July 2000 at Childers hostel in Australia, which claimed the lives of 15 young travelers.

FlareSafe is robust, water-resistant and made of military-grade plastics. It comes complete with batteries, a lanyard and a one-year guarantee. FlareSafe weighs about as much as a paperback and packs in the latest technology to ensure you are carrying the most reliable travel safety device available.

This innovative, handheld product has been distributed in Europe for the past few years and is now available in the United States and Canada through KCL Distribution.

FlareSafe is currently available from these fine retailers:

-- http://www.WalkaboutTravelGear.com

Patented Technology Improves Home Security

New Device Provides Immediate Access to Shotgun for Home Protection

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Jan. 11, 2008 -- A patented new bedside shotgun rack, which provides instant access to a popular weapon of choice for individuals concerned about home protection, debuts today across the United States.

The new device, known as The BackUp, fits securely between the mattress and box springs of most beds and provides immediate access to a shotgun.

The BackUp comes to market at a time when anecdotal evidence suggests home invasions are increasing in frequency in some areas of the country and as the most heinous home invasion crimes, such as the slaying of seven people in Indianapolis or the deaths of three Connecticut family members, foster fear and deep-felt outrage.

"The BackUp is an excellent tool for folks who have made the decision to have and use a shotgun for home protection," said A. John Peters, President for Home Back-Up Protection, LLC, a privately held, Delaware-based limited liability corporation. "The BackUp provides a stable, level place for the weapon to rest as they rest and disappears from sight when guns are returned to secure cases, racks or vaults during the day."

"Many authorities recommend a shotgun for effective home defense and The BackUp puts that protection within an arm's reach," Peters said. As the Natural Resources Defense Council continues to speculate about the safety of bottled water products and the effects they have on the environment, Pureez breaks into the industry with an artistic filtration unit that uses ultraviolet rays to kill microbes in tap water.

Pureez filters tap water through a "point of use" system with a double-active carbon filter and 0.6 micron filter. It eliminates the need to lug heavy bottles and is the only countertop bottle-less tap water purifier that can produce water at a variety of temperatures - from ice-cold to boiling.

"Pureez is dedicated to its customers' health concerns and protecting the environment," says Pureez director of marketing, William Patsy. "Our machines provide pure, unpolluted water without the hassle and spillage of plastic water bottles and unnecessary landfill waste. One of our main goals was to develop a water purifier that protects our environment. We offer superior machines that meet this need at sensible prices."

Pureez is sleek, sophisticated and available in six eye-catching colors. Patsy says, "Our coolers are designed to look as good as pure water makes you feel. We believe coolers should be compact enough to be a welcome addition to your home or office, and not an inconvenience."

Patsy adds that mothers in particular love Pureez. Feedback from mothers has shown that Pureez provides a fast and health-conscious option for on-demand boiled water to mix into infant cereal and prepare other infant foods. Furthermore, the "mix" button gives mothers control over finding the proper water temperature for infant formula.

Weighing in at 31 pounds, Pureez can fit easily on most countertops, measuring a space-saving 13.7 inches high, 11.4 inches wide and 13.7 inches deep. Pureez can deliver up to 40 cups of cool water (39-57 degrees F) or 50 cups of hot water (197-204 degrees F) within one hour's time, depending on the users' needs.

Pureez comes with a self-installation kit for easy set-up next to a refrigerator or sink, or customers can call to arrange professional installation.

About Pureez

Pureez is a fresh new concept in filtration, providing pure drinking water to homes and small businesses. Pureez uses advanced UV technology and active carbon to make water safe. Unlike other water filtration systems, Pureez has presets that allow consumers to determine the temperature of the water, as well as how much water they would like, with the touch of a button. Pureez's award-winning design also includes self-tailored settings and automated service alerts.

Feel Safe again With the Back-up

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_oDC_h1gp9v0/R2LaMDkGarI/AAAAAAAAASo/ZBQPmuzXH4c/s320/headbarimages.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5143913625060534962" />

The ShotBack-Up gun Rack System Delivers Home Protection From Bed

NEWARK, Del., Dec. 14, 2007 - Home Back-Up Protection, LLC has released a patented polymer shotgun racking system for easy access to shotguns used for residential protection.

The Back-Up is a racking system for any legal size shotgun. This keeps the firearm fixed securely to the side of the owner's bed facilitating easy access for protection against home invasion.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation almost 1.5 million reported burglaries were against private residences in 2005. It is no wonder then that 100 million U.S. households have shotguns for the sole purpose of home protection. Unfortunately most people have limited access to their shotguns in an emergency. Most people using a shotgun for home protection keep the gun in the corner of the bedroom or beneath the bed. Both locations require excessive response time, deny visibility and limit range of motion. Therefore, in an emergency, using these places sacrifices time and accuracy that could ultimately cost lives. The truth is no homeowners without The Back-Up device have good access to their firearms.

With The Back-Up shotgun racking system, homeowners are able to access their firearms in just a few seconds even while in bed. Fitting easily between the mattress and box springs, The Back-Up cannot be felt while sleeping and can remain concealed by bedding day and night. Made with a special polymer The Back-Up resists corrosion and is both more durable and 86 percent lighter than steel. In fact, Home Back-Up Protection, LLC has a U.S. Utility Patent on The Back-Up shotgun racking system and is therefore the only source for this unique home protection device.

The Back-Up retail price is $39.95 plus shipping and handling, which the Company President, John Peters, considers a small price to pay for "Protection Within Reach." The Back-Up can be purchased in over 250 UPS zones via http://www.the-backup.com/

Home Back-Up Protection, LLC is a Delaware Corporation that takes great pride in producing a product manufactured entirely in the U.S.A. The company says that for those people who choose firearms for home protection, the shotgun makes the most sense. The product has been featured on Fox National News with E.D. Hill, and has received international press in Germany, Sweden, and Australia.

Latest Satellite Television Antenna System

37STV Packs Maximum Entertainment Performance into Compact Design

MERRIMACK, N.H., Oct. 25 - Raymarine, a world leader in
marine electronics, today introduced the 37STV, the newest member of its
family of satellite television antenna systems. Joining Raymarine's popular
45STV and 60STV, the new system expands the company's offerings for on
board entertainment.
"The new 37STV is the latest addition to Raymarine's line of satellite
television antenna systems. It's a compact system that delivers
uninterrupted satellite reception, making it a great choice for
entertainment when you are on the water," said Terry Carlson, president of
Raymarine, Inc.
The 37STV's dome design makes the system ideal for vessels 25' and
larger. As with all of Raymarine's antenna systems, it is compatible with a
wide range of Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) satellite television service
providers and utilizes Raymarine's proprietary Wide Range Search (WRS)
algorithm to quickly identify and acquire satellite signals. The 37STV also
features a NMEA 0183 GPS interface to ensure rapid satellite acquisition
times.
Once a satellite is identified, the 37STV achieves highly accurate
satellite tracking at sea by using Dynamic Beam Tilting (DBT) technology,
which continuously measures the vessel's heading, pitch and roll to keep
the antenna locked on a satellite - ensuring a clear picture even in
extreme weather and rough sea conditions. In addition, stabilization of the
system is enhanced by conical scanning, which detects and maintains the
strongest signal at all times.
High Definition (HD) ready, the 37STV features a dual LNB design that
allows the captain to monitor the weather and news at the helm while others
enjoy watching television or listening to music down below. To enhance the
viewing and listening experience, Raymarine has integrated a unique,
rotating sub-reflector that redirects the signal and minimizes the need for
constant dish movement, making for much quieter operation. The 37STV offers
a remotely mounted Antenna Control Unit (ACU) featuring a digital display
and keypad for easy installation, manual satellite selection and
diagnostics. The system also has fewer cables, which minimizes installation
time and lowers the overall cost of the system.
About Raymarine
Raymarine, a world leader in marine electronics, develops and
manufactures the most comprehensive range of electronic equipment for the
recreational boating and light commercial marine markets. Designed for high
performance and ease of use, the award-winning products are available
through a global network of dealers and distributors. The Raymarine product
lines include radar, navigation aids, instruments, fishfinders,
communications, software and systems.(PRN)

New Metabo 1-piece Rotary Hammer Core Bits

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_oDC_h1gp9v0/Rx5WoyAsNuI/AAAAAAAAAMw/sA-9cHknins/s400/MET-A-9369.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5124628684613629666" />

Increases Drilling Efficiency in Concrete and Brick Applications

WEST CHESTER, Pa., Oct. 24 - Metabo Corporation, a
leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric
power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding
applications, now offers a family of 1-piece core bits for rotary hammers
that increases the efficiency of drilling into hard, solid materials such
as concrete, block and brick.
The new 1-piece core bit is widely used by plumbing, electrical and
mechanical contractors in applications such as drilling for railing
installations, through wall drilling for electrical conduit, plumbing and
sanitary pipe and relocating anchors using chemical anchoring systems or
grout-in-place anchors. Specialty applications include pest control as well
as rigging and firestop systems.
Compared to traditional systems comprised of individual core bits,
extension shanks, centering bits and threaded arbors that need to be pieced
together, Metabo's 1-piece core bit is a simple, single component that is
more efficient at transferring the hammer's blow to the material being
drilled and is easier to use. This makes the rotary hammer accessory faster
at drilling and more effective than the modular system.
The carbide tipped bits come in diameters from 1-1/2" to 6" and overall
lengths of 12" and 22". The 1-piece core bit is sold as a complete set and
is available with either an SDS-Max or Spline drive shank for individual
applications.

Video Surveillance Just Got Smarter

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_oDC_h1gp9v0/Rxy0viAsNnI/AAAAAAAAAL8/V6s47NCRjqA/s400/headerimg_prod.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5124169204717336178" />

TOMBALL, Texas, Oct. 22, 2007 - Mosaic Global Solutions, LLC (http://www.mosaicgs.com), a leading provider of enterprise IP security products and solutions, has just released the Mosaic Intelligent Video Management System (IVMS). This is no ordinary enterprise-class network video recording (NVR) solution: The IVMS platform is designed to make the job of video-oriented surveillance dramatically more efficient and effective.

The IVMS platform takes advantage of IP/Network video surveillance and uses existing network infrastructure. Wireless video is easily incorporated, and the IVMS platform offers multiple ways to integrate legacy analog video. What's more, the IVMS uses conventional server hardware and employs an industry-standard database management system on a highly secured Linux operating system.

But the Mosaic IVMS really excels in its unique core architecture and comprehensive surveillance tools. The system is engineered around an extensive SQL database structure for storing and managing all aspects of surveillance. Operators can evaluate the status of alarm conditions, including a facility map with active camera and sensor icons, instant replay video clips, real-time graphical display of object tracking, and the ability to create and store comments with recorded video - all from a single workstation.

IVMS offers video motion detection capabilities unheard of in conventional systems, applying sophisticated machine vision algorithms to video motion detection, beginning with defining the normal background image as well as images that are expected to change. The system then segments and separates objects passing through the scene; if they meet user-defined parameters, objects will be considered targets to initiate recording.

The Mosaic IVMS also redefines video surveillance analysis. The system scrutinizes object movements and matches them with predefined and user-defined behaviors. Zones can be defined within a video image, and objects can be tracked in relationship to those zones to monitor for intrusion detection. IVMS even includes facial detection and recognition, license plate recognition/OCR, and vehicle and people counting.

The system continuously monitors and records various attributes of the video as it is acquired; those measurements can be used to schedule camera maintenance. IVMS can also determine whether the camera view has changed due to negligence, malicious tampering or a change in the environment.

IVMS is equally adept at event management. The system generates notifications for a variety of system events. Users can program automatic event responses into the system.

"IVMS defines a new standard in active video surveillance," stated Al Mandia, Mosaic vice-president of business development and sales. "We believe the IVMS platform provides a considerable number of functionality and usability advantages over the competition."

About Mosaic Global Solutions, LLC

Mosaic Global Solutions is a leading provider of intelligent video monitoring systems and facilities management solutions. This key instantly unlocks a deadbolt and now through the Internet anyone can learn to do it! With the assistance of the press, we want to educate homeowners on this Bump Key problem and its simple solution with SUPER GRIP LOCK."

The vulnerability is explained on many websites. Just do a search on Google or Yahoo and see how many sites are now selling actual Bump Keys or displaying "how-to" information on them.

Bump Keys can be stopped, thanks to a lady who invented a product called SUPER GRIP LOCK.

Melinda Moore, inventor of SUPER GRIP LOCK, states: "With my husband's help, we figured out that if I locked my deadbolt from the inside and placed my hand over the thumb turn, holding it tightly so that it would not turn out of the locked position, then no picking device could open it from the outside. I even had my husband use the actual key in an attempt to get in! He couldn't! So, I developed a super strong strap that duplicated the strength of a hand holding a locked deadbolt in place. We patented SUPER GRIP LOCK and it's so strong that when attached, no Bump Key or any picking device can open your deadbolt from the outside!"

For less than $15.00, consumers can receive 3 SUPER GRIP LOCKS and have total peace of mind knowing that no one can use a Bump Key or any picking device to unlock the deadbolts within their homes. As an added benefit, SUPER GRIP LOCK secures a hotel deadbolt in the exact same way as the home deadbolt. Even if someone has your hotel card lock key, they will not be able to get in!

Ron Moore, partner of SUPER GRIP LOCK, LLC says: "The National Locksmith Magazine and numerous police officers have tested our product and recommended it for home and travel security. They also recommend it for seniors because it is safe, effective and easy to use."

For complete understanding of SUPER GRIP LOCK along with actual video demonstrations, please visit http://www.supergriplock.com.

Researchers Develop Wireless Bridge Sensors Without Batteries

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_oDC_h1gp9v0/RxcBHSAsNaI/AAAAAAAAAKY/Scc4hR610wo/s400/bridge-sensor.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5122564325762676130" />

Description

Clarkson University researchers have developed technology that uses vibrations caused by traffic to power wireless bridge monitor sensors. It is unwieldy to provide batteries for normal wireless sensors that monitor bridges for failure. The Clarkson researchers have found a way around this problem.

Clarkson University researchers have developed technology that uses the vibrations caused by passing traffic to power wireless bridge monitoring sensors.

Wireless battery-powered sensors that monitor bridges and report changes that may lead to failure are easy to install, but it is unwieldy to provide power for the sensors. Each bridge needs at least several sensors, many installed in hard-to-access locations. Replacing millions of batteries could become a problem, adding to the expense of maintaining the bridges. The Clarkson researchers have found a way around this problem.

"We have completely eliminated the battery from the equation," says Assistant Professor Edward S. Sazonov, who developed the technology along with Professor Pragasen Pillay. "Hermetically sealed wireless sensors powered by bridge vibration can remain on the bridge without need of maintenance for decades, providing continuous monitoring of such parameters as ice conditions, traffic flows and health status."

The two electrical and computer engineering professors, along with graduate students Darrell Curry and Haodong Li, used the New York State Route 11 bridge, a steel girder structure, which runs over the Raquette River in Potsdam, N.Y., as a case study.

Energy was harvested by locating an electromagnetic generator on a girder. The harvester responded to one of the natural vibration frequencies of the bridge. Each time a car or a truck passed over the bridge, even in a different lane from the sensor installation, the whole structure vibrated and excited the mover in the generator, producing electrical energy. Harvested electrical energy powered unique wireless sensors that increased energy output of the harvester and consumed only microwatts of power while performing useful tasks.

Sazonov and Pillay have been invited to present their work at the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies Meeting in Washington, D.C., in January. The board provides support for their research.

They are also working on using the energy harvesting technology to power the various sensors in passenger cars.

Wireless monitoring of bridges and overpasses has gained much attention in the past few years. Bridge collapses happen suddenly and unpredictably, often leading to tragic loss of human life. In 2006, the Federal Highway Administration listed 25.8 percent of the nation's 596,842 bridges as either structurally deficient or functionally obsolete. While many of these bridges will remain in service for years, they need monitoring and rehabilitation. Currently, bridge monitoring is performed through periodic visual inspections. The clamping diode is the first 600W 10/1000-microsecond device in the industry to be available in the compact SMA package. The new SMA6J series is designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment in all industry sectors against electrostatic discharge (ESD) and power surges, meeting IEC and MIL STD standards, and is available in both unidirectional and bidirectional versions. The new diodes feature exceptionally low leakage currents, making them ideal for battery-powered products.

With a nine square millimeter footprint, the SMA package saves 50% of the PCB area required by the SMB package commonly used by suppressors with this power capability. In addition, the SMA package provides a small but significant height reduction to 2.23mm - 10% thinner than competitive devices - thereby meeting the requirements of the stacked PCBs typically used in hard disk drives (HDDs), as well as other compact applications.

The SMA6J is specified for operation at up to 175 degrees C junction temperature (Tj max), making it a better choice than regular 150 degrees C devices for the hot environment of SMPS (switch-mode power supply) applications. The higher operating junction temperature provides an increased safety margin under real-world conditions and a doubling of the safety margin for a true junction temperature of 125 degrees C. The leakage current is specified at 85 degrees C as well as at 25 degrees C, to simplify product design, especially in telecom applications. The leakage current itself, at 0.2 microamps at 25 degrees C, is approximately 80% lower than competitive products.

The new series meets the IEC 61000-4-2 and MIL STD 883 Method 3015 ESD standards, plus overstress standards including IEC 61000-4-4 and IEC 61000-4- 5. In addition, the maximum clamping voltage is specified for 8/20 microsecond surges, as well as for 10/1000 microsecond, to match worldwide surge definitions. The clamping voltage is lower by up to 9% than earlier devices, to provide better protection at the same surge level. Dynamic on-state resistances and temperature coefficients are specified to enable calculation of maximum clamping voltage for different surge voltage or temperature requirements.

The SMA6J Transil series is in volume production now, in stand-off voltages (VRM) from 5.0V to 188V, and is priced at $0.10 in small quantities.

About STMicroelectronics

STMicroelectronics is a global leader in developing and delivering semiconductor solutions across the spectrum of microelectronics applications. These new
products automate the home storage process and greatly improve homeowner
safety in the process.
The Versa Lift was voted "Hottest New Product" at the International
Door Association Show in Orlando in April 2007. The Versa Lift has also
just been awarded the Handyman Club of America's "Member Tested &
Recommended" seal as well as the "Contractor Tested & Recommended" seal of
approval.
Versa Lift rapidly lifts storage boxes and a myriad of other items up
into the attic or down to the basement in only 15 seconds per load! Versa
Lift offers existing homeowners and new homebuyers an excellent way to
easily access all that storage space up in the attic or down in the
basement without the dread or danger associated with carrying heavy boxes
up or down rickety attic ladders or stairs. Byers' is also introducing the
new Versa Rail attic ladder safety railing. Versa Rail is an ideal
companion product to the Versa Lift because it mounts to the attic floor at
the top of the folding attic stairs and provides a safe handrail for
stepping up into and back down out of the attic when using the folding
stairs. The Versa Rail also protects homeowners against accidentally
falling through the attic stairs opening, which is a significant hazard
when moving around and working in the attic.
A wide range of new storage applications continue to be discovered, by
BPG, while talking with Builders, Remodelers, Handyman Club Members and
Homeowners across the country. Just some of the items that users have been
storing are: holiday decorations, golf clubs, skiing equipment, hunting
gear, camping equipment, boating equipment, fishing equipment, luggage,
lawn furniture cushions, sleeping bags, power tools, air compressors, step
ladders, winter or summer sets of auto or SUV tires and much, much more!
With Versa Lift there's no longer any need to stumble over all these items
in your garage all year. Store them upstairs and bring them down the
instant you need them with a push of a button!
If you rent mini-storage space, the Versa Lift will pay for itself the
first year and save you as much every year thereafter!

Advanced Brake Caliper Design

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_oDC_h1gp9v0/RwVJ2CAsNNI/AAAAAAAAAIw/wkcD-jtkjlg/s320/untitled.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5117577744177968338" />

TRW'S Advanced Brake Caliper Design -- Termed Thin-Wide Technology -- Reduces Weight and Extends Brake Life

LIVONIA, Mich., Oct. 5 - TRW Automotive Holdings Corp. (NYSE: TRW), the global leader in automotive safety systems, continues to broaden its product portfolio with its thin wide bridge caliper technology (TWB). TWB technology combines the dual benefits of increased fuel economy with longer brake life.
With the thin wide bridge design, the caliper bridge thickness is
reduced by 45 percent in comparison to a conventional brake caliper design,
while the width is increased by 40 percent. This 45 percent decrease in
bridge thickness allows for an increase in piston effective radius which,
when combined with larger pads and rotors, can equate to a significant
increase in brake torque output.
"Weight savings and enhanced performance were the primary objectives
that led to the re-engineering of conventional brake parts to create highly
mass-efficient structures for disc brake caliper housings," said Josef
Pickenhahn, vice president, Braking Engineering for TRW Automotive.
Pickenhahn further stated, "The housings on the thin wide design are
lighter than their predecessors, promoting better vehicle fuel economy. TWB
housings also accommodate larger diameter rotors and friction pad areas,
which tend to reduce rotor-running temperatures, brake fade and pad wear.
Combined with larger rotors, this also results in increased brake torque
output. Advances with thin wide bridge calipers broaden the array of
designs to meet specific customer needs and can result in greater customer
satisfaction for our world leading caliper products."
About TRW
With 2006 sales of $13.1 billion, TRW Automotive ranks among the
world's leading automotive suppliers. "Like you, we tried to put them back on, but once the cold got in, the gloves kept slipping off, and our children's hands became colder and colder. We also tried many different types of kids' gloves, but each time we did, the same thing happened. All we wanted was for our children to experience the great, snowy outdoors ... with their gloves on! This is what inspired us to design and create the GloveGator sleeve."

"Keeping snow, wind and ice away from your child's hands and wrists is our focus," continues Ms. Johnson. "The lack of functionality in most kids' cold weather gloves or mittens is why the GloveGator was created. A large percentage of kids gloves either slip off, allowing snow in, or just come off entirely."

The unique design of the GloveGator sleeve provides maximum warmth and protection from the elements for you and your kids. Sold in pairs, each GloveGator is easily installed over an existing pair of gloves or mittens, adding the increased length and the snug fit needed to keep kids' gloves in place. And best of all, once installed, you never need to remove the GloveGator from each glove or mitten ... just unzip the GloveGator and take off the glove or mitten with the GloveGator still attached!

Ms. Johnson adds, "Personally, I can attest to the added functionality that the GloveGator sleeve brings to any pair of cold weather gloves or mittens. Without the GloveGator, my son's mittens slip off from the cold in minutes, and his hands are freezing. With the GloveGator sleeve installed on the same mittens, the mittens stay in place, and he is able to stay outdoors much longer." Not just for kids, the GloveGator is offered in six sizes, ranging from preschool through adult. Servers jammed into a small space start overheating quickly. By supplementing an existing air conditioning system, it's possible to cool hot spots in a cost-effective manner.

One of the newest spot cooling innovations being used in data centers is MovinCool's CM12, a ceiling unit that can be installed quickly -- and permanently. At 15.5" tall, the CM12 is the only spot cooling solution on the market designed specifically to fit into drop ceiling spaces. It has 10,500 Btu and runs on a standard 115V, 15amp, which means there is no special electrical required.

DP Air in Phoenix, a recognized leader in designing and maintaining secure, high-technology data centers, HVAC and environmental control systems, has already turned to the device for several customers. Kevin McSpadden, regional manager at DP Air, describes how a freight company benefits from this solution.

"The original building A/C was designed with certain load CFM (cubic feet per minute) for certain square footage," McSpadden says. "The freight company had a little test lab -- an IDF closet -- that could no longer maintain temperature. It wasn't cost-effective to go in and put a large system in and redo it. Ducting, rebalancing -- these weren't a solution."

The test lab had a return-air plenum above ceiling, which allowed McSpadden's team to discharge the condenser air into the plenum. "We were able to install the CM12 very quickly," McSpadden says. "It's out of sight. It doesn't use any floor space. It operates off its own stat and only runs as required, so it's a very good application."

The ceiling device brought additional pluses as well, according to McSpadden. "It runs on 110 volt, so the electrical installation costs were pretty low. You can run off a 110-volt, 20-amp circuit, which is easy to get in a building. And it's not a split system, so you don't have to penetrate the roof or go to the perimeter of the building and put a condenser outside. And there's no core drilling."

It's an easy solution for building owners or managers to approve, according to McSpadden. "The capital expenditure is very, very small. For installation, you can do a quick one-liner or draw and submit to the building owner or the building facility people. It's not a very detailed or intricate design. It's one supply duct in, one return duct out," he says. "There are four anchors. You can move it to another site if you want to. So there's very little infrastructure impact.

"When all is said and done, the CM12 is cost-effective, doesn't use any floor space and has very little impact to the building," McSpadden says. "The NetGuardian 3288 Test Fixture has been a key tool in our rigorous product testing, which contributes to the quality of the NetGuardian."

Network technicians can now easily self-diagnose problems within their own network monitoring using the NetGuardian 3288 Test Fixture. "Introducing the Test Box is part of our ongoing commitment to total client support for every DPS product," added Storm.

The NetGuardian 3288 Test Fixture has 32 discrete alarm toggles, 8 analog knobs, and 8 control relay LEDs. This tool makes it easy for users to verify alarms inputs and control relays are functioning properly before they connect their mission-critical network elements to their NetGuardian RTUs.

The NetGuardian 3288 Test Fixture can be used to test both discrete and analog alarms. While discrete alarms indicate only alarm or clear states, analog inputs, such as those found on the NetGuardian 832A, allow detailed monitoring of temperature, humidity, battery levels, and other analog values.

The "Test Box" allows for testing of a complete monitoring system: remote, transport, and alarm master. It can also be used to test 48-point DX expansion units. When the monitoring system is correctly deployed, a simulated alarm generated by the Test Box will be received by the RTU and collected by the alarm master. If an alarm is seen on the master terminal, the system is functioning properly.

One advanced application of the Test Box is testing Derived Control equations. Derived Controls are user-specified automatic responses to dynamic network threats. When a combination of events occurs, a monitoring system equipped with Derived Equations can latch a control relay to respond within seconds.

"The Test Box is a wonderful tool for testing Derived Controls," said Chris Hower, Senior DPS Support Technician. "Most control equations won't take action very often, but they are key to preventing lost revenues and network downtime. The Test Box gives network operators the assurance that their Derived Controls will work properly when they need them most."

Testing alarms using the NetGuardian 3288 Test Fixture also decreases costs associated with hardware failures. The Test Box pinpoints whether a problem lies with an RTU, site equipment, or analog sensors. This effectively eliminates "no problem found" on field returns, saving shipping costs and windshield time.

While DPS tech support is available to help their clients through their monitoring issues, network professionals can now more effectively diagnose and correct network problems before they become costly, reputation-damaging outages. The TAS5352 is capable of continuously driving two channels at 100 Watts (W), and the TAS5342 is capable of driving 125 W per channel at 10 percent total harmonic distortion plus noise (THD+N) into a 4-ohm load. Their high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 98 dB allows manufacturers to meet consumer demand for high performance audio and home theater applications, such as high-power DVD receivers, home theaters in a box and mini component systems.

The TAS5352 and TAS5342 power stages are all pin-for-pin compatible with TI's TAS5142DDV evaluation module, while providing additional benefits that ultimately lower system and manufacturing costs, including the following:

-- Boot strap under-voltage protection allows higher modulation indexes
-- Faster over-current (OC) detector allows inductors with lower
saturation current to be used in the reconstruction filter
-- Spike voltage reduced to improve reliability and reduce electromagnetic
interference (EMI)
-- Pin-to-pin short detector for detecting manufacturing errors like
solder bridges
-- Special ramping sequence to minimize pop/click when used in
single-ended mode

TI's proprietary current-limiting circuit manages over-currents, avoiding unnecessary shutdowns and protecting against short-circuit conditions. This feature allows the power stage to drive speakers with minimum audible artifacts during high-power peaks, and reduces the possibility of device shutdown during high-level music transients. The TAS5352 and TAS5342 also allow the engineer to program the OC level to customize this setting according to the filtering inductors used. In addition, the TAS5342L provides a lower-cost alternative, offering designers another performance option for applications, based on their system performance and cost requirements.

TI's PurePath Digital(TM) Audio Technology

The TAS5352, TAS5342 and TAS5342L digital amplifiers are based on TI's PurePath Digital technology, which allows consumer electronics manufacturers to build complete digital, end-to-end audio products with cutting-edge sound in a compact form factor. By reproducing movie soundtracks or music exactly the way the artist intended, PurePath Digital technology offers exceptional high-end digital entertainment to the everyday consumer. (NTI) to provide a notification system that will be capable of reaching faculty, students and staff on all eight campuses within minutes. The service, part of the broader "IU-Notify" initiative, will be implemented with limited capabilities in October, tested in phases through fall, and should be fully functional by the end of the calendar year.
The search Cfor a system with these capabilities was part of a
university-wide security review conducted after the Virginia Tech shooting
incident.
"This system provides a much-needed tool to reach the entire IU
community with important information on short notice," said IU President
Michael A. McRobbie. "It can be used for everything from weather delays to
other administrative news. It is essential that we be able to notify
students immediately in emergency situations because up-to-date
communication helps minimize the spread of misinformation, maintain order
and provide direction."
Built exclusively for post-secondary institutions, the Connect-ED
service allows communication in many modes including voice messages to
home, work and cell phones; text messages to cell phones, PDAs and other
devices; written messages to email accounts; and messages to
teletypewriters and telecommunication devices (TTY/TDD) for the hearing
impaired. During a time-sensitive situation, multimodal communication is a
more comprehensive way to reach people in the environment they are in when
the issue arises. Communication is sent simultaneously to all available
contact points for each person.
The system has been used by schools across the country during events
such as Hurricane Katrina and to help locate missing individuals. The
system can be used to notify entire populations of school closures and
contingency plans connected to inclement weather or other late-breaking
developments. Additionally, some campuses use the service for more routine
communications: for example, during the admissions process and to alert
students to important financial aid or other administrative deadlines.
"We recognized the important role that immediate communication plays in
keeping members of our community safe and have been looking at these
services for some time. Of course, the post-event reports of the Virginia
Tech incident absolutely served to verify our thinking and speed our
process," said Mark Bruhn, associate vice president, information and
infrastructure assurance. "As a main component of our critical incident
communications plan, IU-Notify with its multimodal capabilities will allow
us to keep individuals informed, whether they are in their dorms or
offices, sitting in front of their computers, or on their way to class."
Bruhn added, "This system allows IU to load contact information for all
students, faculty, staff and for others who may be physically on one of our
campuses for an extended period, such as IU Foundation employees, volunteer
faculty, visiting scholars, and contract employees. We also provide for
parents who may wish to subscribe to certain types of communications."
The data will come from central student, employee and faculty
databases, and from an online self-service form in IU's OneStart portal
(http://www.onestart.iu.edu). The online form is scheduled for release in
early October.
A strategy/policy group has been formed to address issues, policies,
standards and procedures for IU-Notify.
About Indiana University
Indiana University enrolls 99,122 undergraduate and graduate students
on campuses in Bloomington, Indianapolis, New Albany, South Bend, Kokomo,
Fort Wayne, Richmond and Gary. It employs more than 16,000 faculty and
staff.
About The NTI Group
The NTI Group, Inc. (NTI), a Delaware corporation, is a privately held
company that provides award winning communication systems designed
specifically for local, regional, state, and Federal government entities.
The Connect family of services enables rapid dissemination of critical
information via voice and text devices using its premier mass notification
engine designed to allow users to quickly and easily record and send
time-based notifications to thousands of people in minutes using just a
telephone. NTI makes and distributes the Connect-ED(R), Connect-CTY(R),
Connect-GOV(R), and Connect-MIL(R) systems, allowing users to target
specific groups and/or geographic regions within their database(s) and
engage recipients in two-way communication by asking them to respond to
questions via their telephone keypads. Students are able to see and make connections among up to four representations of a problem at one time, on one screen, including graphical, algebraic, numeric, geometric or written formats.

The benefits of this approach are based on research that shows each student learns math in different ways, whether it's a graph, table, equation or written form. Students learn concepts more readily and with deeper understanding when they see a problem represented in different ways and are able to choose and evaluate various problem-solving strategies.(1)

TI-Nspire technology allows students to change values and observe the results in real time, which dramatically reduces the time needed to see how various concepts are linked and allows teachers to focus on teaching math, not manipulating multiple technologies.

"Students who take more math courses succeed in college at much higher rates and have the potential to earn more than those who do not. An understanding of math prepares students for future success, and the TI-Nspire is designed to help them understand concepts on a deeper level, ultimately increasing achievement," said Melendy Lovett, president, TI's Education Technology business.

The TI-Nspire handheld is allowed on all of the important college entrance exams, including the PSAT, SAT*, ACT** and AP* math tests.(2) The corresponding computer software allows for additional flexibility so that students and teachers can use PCs, handhelds, or both, at home and in class with the same user experience.

"Building on innovations of the past, we are now ushering in a new era of learning technology, which we believe will shape math education for future generations," added Lovett.

1967-2007: The Future of Education Technology, 40 Years in the Making

The TI-Nspire products build on four decades of innovation beginning in 1967, when TI scientists Jerry D. Merryman, James Van Tassel and Jack Kilby invented the world's first handheld electronic calculator. The original prototype performed four functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division), had 12 bytes of memory, ran on batteries and weighed nearly three pounds. It was a significant advancement over previous electronic calculators, which were approximately the size of a typewriter, weighed nearly 55 pounds and needed to be plugged into a power source.

"Once we accomplished the portable calculator, the possibilities were astonishing. It triggered the consumer electronics revolution and was the precursor to devices like cell phones," said Merryman. "Another major impact was on math education -- and the millions of students who have improved math learning because of technology. The TI-Nspire technology is a major advancement that will continue to transform how students learn math."

PC-Like Functionality, Research-Based Features Help Broaden Critical Thinking Skills

TI conducted extensive research and product testing and sought teacher input when developing TI-Nspire products. The company added computer-like functionality and features that help students broaden critical thinking skills and make meaningful connections between the different ways math is represented. Key features and applications include:

-- Dynamically-linked representations of a single problem on one screen.
"Dynamic linking" means that changes to one representation of a problem
are automatically reflected in other representations, which allows
students to understand relationships among math concepts. For example,
students can investigate the relationships among rise, run and slope
using a graph, word problem and spreadsheet.
-- Grab-and-move graphed functions. Manipulate a graph's appearance by
grabbing a line and moving it to see the effect of changes in real
time. This helps students see mathematical relationships and patterns.
-- Word processing and file storage features similar to computer. Students
can create, edit and save documents, review and revise their work, pick
up where they left off in a previous class and easily transfer
documents between their handheld and computer, extending the learning
process beyond the classroom.

TI-Nspire products are being used in more than 150 pilot classrooms worldwide. Qualitative results show that students are more engaged and excited about math and want to continue using the TI-Nspire technology, and teachers are recommending the new technology to others, because it gives them new teaching tools to reach all students.

The products are currently available through educational product dealers, which are listed at http://www.ti-nspire.com/. They will also be available in major retail stores for consumers to purchase for back-to-school 2008 and will cost approximately the same as TI's advanced graphing products.

"The TI-Nspire opens up a whole new world of possibilities, which has helped me to think differently about how I teach my students," said Eric Butterbaugh, Algebra and Geometry instructor at Bread & Roses Integrated Arts High School in Harlem New York. "My students were comfortable with the TI-Nspire after one week and had mastered the features within six weeks."

The world's leading math and science education publishers are developing materials specifically for use with TI-Nspire technology, such as Glencoe/McGraw Hill, Key Curriculum Press, McDougal Littell, Pearson Addison-Wesley, Pearson-Prentice Hall, Wiley Publishing and Wright Group.

For more information about the new TI-Nspire products and the 40th anniversary of TI's invention of the electronic handheld calculator, please visit http://education.ti.com/nspire/press.

TI Kicks Off Week-Long Celebration

Commemorating the invention of the handheld electronic calculator and marking the launch of the TI-Nspire products, TI is hosting a week-long series of events, including: A donation of TI-Nspire products and several historical calculators to the educational technology archives at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History; a temporary exhibit of the 1967 prototype and TI-Nspire products at the Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas; and a traveling display to several education conferences this fall, where teachers will be able to meet one of the inventors.

About Texas Instruments

Education Technology, a business of Texas Instruments, provides a wide range of advanced tools connecting the classroom experience with real-world applications and enabling students and teachers to explore mathematics and science interactively. Designed with leading educators and researchers, Texas Instruments educational technology and services are tested against recognized third-party research on effective instruction and improved student learning. Launches New PCI Services Offering to Help Companies Meet PCI Compliance Deadlines and Avoid Fines

RESTON, Va., Sept. 24, 2007- Protecting customer credit card data from hackers and identity theft is not just good for customers, it is essential for any merchant, bank, or credit union wanting to maintain client trust and remain free of payment card industry (PCI) data breaches. But complying with PCI Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) is difficult for many companies - or was, until this week's launch of Hyperion Security Inc.'s HyperSecur(SM) PCI Compliance services offering (http://www.hyperionsecurity.com/compliance.html).

One of only a few information security companies in the world authorized by the PCI Standards Security Council and all major credit card brands to provide PCI compliance services, Hyperion Security is led by CEO Michael La Barge, a data security expert who spent 20 years analyzing and improving security for government and Fortune 500 companies worldwide. When La Barge decided to create his own company, he assembled an industry-leading team of security experts certified and trained to work with each client to uncover potential vulnerabilities - and then create customized solutions to shore up those weak areas.

"Our consultants work with clients beyond the standard checklist employed by most other information security companies," La Barge explained. "They really get into each client's systems and dataflows to find the problem spots. Because hackers and thieves work around the clock to find new ways to access data, it is critical to identify and mitigate those risks properly before costly system breaches can occur."

To that end, La Barge and his team now offer HyperSecur(SM) PCI Compliance, a flexible approach that exceeds general business and PCI compliance requirements. Depending on their needs, clients can receive complete assessments, self-assessment guidance, analyses, remediation action plans and training for their PCI compliance requirements. Upon completion of the assessments, Hyperion Security helps clients implement measures and prove compliance. The company's security team also walks clients through preparing for, managing and better responding to information security threats - necessary competencies for any organization working to meet PCI DSS rules.

La Barge stated, "Our HyperSecur(SM) solutions are all based on information security industry standards and best practices, so our clients can take care of business, knowing we are doing everything to protect their information assets."

La Barge would know. In addition to his considerable government and corporate experience, he has taught cyber security to New York State Trooper Academy cadets as well as provided security services to some of the country's leading companies, including AOL. A sought-after public speaker and Service Disabled Veteran, he is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, Certified Ethical Hacker, Certified Information Systems Auditor and GIAC Certified Incident Handler.

Brighter Days Ahead

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_oDC_h1gp9v0/RvTIOyuVnzI/AAAAAAAAAGk/VJBFSOn-eGw/s400/27539br.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5112931633432207154" />

Light Therapy for Acne - Brighter Days Ahead
By Flor Serquina

There are many ways to treat acne and acne scars, ranging from applying topical creams that can lighten dark spots or remove pimples altogether, to manual methods that involve wounding the skin and penetrating into much deeper areas of infection. One such method is phototherapy, which is a relatively new technique whose overall effects are still being studied. Light therapy for acne is also expensive, so if you have acne and you have been recommended a regimen involving phototherapy, you need to do research on it before opening your wallet.

In general, light therapy for acne involves the use of a specific wavelength of light to treat acne-prone, acne-riddled, or acne-scarred skin. A dermatologist who does phototherapy can choose amongst different tools to apply the specific wavelength of therapeutic light. There are lasers, light emitting diodes (or LEDs), dichroic lamps, and even fluorescent bulbs. Not only is there prescribed light therapy for acne, there is also light therapy for skin rejuvenation, which some patients claim can help make skin appear younger and more supple.

Not all kinds of light are good for the skin. For instance, the ultraviolet light of the sun can do damage to the skin, and can cause acne break outs. In phototherapy, dermatologists use safe wavelengths of light in order to treat acne and other skin conditions. In one kind of light therapy, dermatologists use blue light twice a week on patients, a treatment regimen that has been shown to reduce the severity of acne by as much as sixty percent in patients. This particular form of light therapy for acne is even more effective if it is done daily, and if accompanied by red light therapy.

How does light therapy for acne work? Most acne is caused by an anaerobic bacterium called Propionibacterium acnes. P. acnes survives in an environment without oxygen, hence its happy encapsulation under the skin, in an acne cyst, and away from the air. P. acnes also produces free radicals when exposed to certain wavelengths of light.

Light therapy can work in different ways to eradicate P. acnes. Some light therapy, in particular blue light therapy, induces the bacteria to form free radicals, effectively killing the bacteria in their own toxins. Other kinds of light therapy can induce the bacteria to produce oxygen, so that P. acnes is killed in an environment least conducive to its growth.

As a result of the success of light therapy to treat acne, scientists and engineers have developed light boxes for home use. Such light boxes are effective for those who have had acne for a long time, and they can be an inexpensive alternative to treatments in the doctor's office. However, the strength of light coming from light boxes can be much lower than those in the dermatologist's clinic, so that the light box has to be used more often, and for a long period of time, in order to duplicate the success of commercial phototherapy.

Another novel light therapy acne treatment involves the use of high intensity blue or violet light. This technique, called photodynamic therapy, has not yet been approved for commercial use, and has yet to be studied and published in a scientific journal, where it can be subjected to peer reviews.

Phototherapy can also be used for other skin ailments, such as psoriasis or eczema. In this case, dermatologists make use of ultraviolet light in order to slow down the rapid turnover of skin which is characteristic of these two disorders. Phototherapy in the form of visible red light is also used to combat the effects of aging in the skin. This type of phototherapy increases the production of the skin protein collagen, so that any damage to the skin can heal much faster. Phototherapy can also be used for tanning skin, and even to make wounds heal. For instance, infrared light has been shown in a few clinical studies to assist in restoring sensation, while reducing pain and improving circulation, of patients with neuropathy.

Light therapy for acne can come in many forms, and more research is being done to ensure its safety and improve on current light therapy methods. In the future, we will certainly see more innovations that can help make light therapy more convenient, and even cheaper for those who need it the most. If you are interested in undergoing light therapy to treat your case of acne, consult with your dermatologist first and look at all possible options available for your needs and budget.

Flor Serquina is a writer and also a wife and a mother who has a great interest in maintaining the healthy skin of the members of her large family. With cell phones and other mobile devices playing an increasingly integral role in emergency situations where students may be dispersed across a campus or locked down in a classroom and unable to access other forms of communication, this new enhancement to AnComm's 'Global Alert' service ensures that emergency communications sent via the 'Global Alert' service are received by all forms of mobile communication devices, including cell phones, text messaging devices, PDAs and other types of wireless devices.

AnComm's 'Global Alert' service is an integrated component of the company's flagship service called 'Talk About It' -- a leading school safety solution currently in use by more than 100 schools in 16 states across the United States -- that enables school administrators to dramatically improve the flow and frequency of communication between faculty and students. With AnComm's 'Global Alert' service, school administrators are empowered with a simple, easy-to-use tool to rapidly disseminate broad-based emergency communications in order to proactively prevent violent situations in elementary and secondary schools, and institutions of higher education. 'Global Alert' is provided at no additional cost to all current subscribers of AnComm's 'Talk About It' anonymous online messaging service.

"Designed for emergency situations such as a school shooting or situation where inclement weather poses imminent danger, AnComm's 'Global Alert' emergency notification service provides school administrators with a cost- effective tool for sending real-time communications to all faculty, students, parents and law enforcement," said Carter Myers, President of AnComm. "And now with support for all mobile communication devices, schools subscribed to AnComm's 'Talk About It' will have confidence in knowing that everyone -- regardless of where they may be -- will receive notification and thus be able to take action to protect themselves and prevent greater loss of life."

New CopyCam(R) Image Capturing System With USB Capability

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_oDC_h1gp9v0/RvTBUCuVnxI/AAAAAAAAAGU/H4cQGi_YOVQ/s320/USB_CC.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5112924027045125906" />

PolyVision(R) Announces the Release of the New Award-Winning CopyCam(R) Image Capturing System With USB Capability

SUWANEE, Ga., Sept. 22 - PolyVision Corporation, a global leader in visual communication products, has today announced the release of the new CopyCam Image Capturing System with USB capability. The converter will be available at retailers in early 2008.

The converter box was designed for the estimated 15 million households still watching free, on-air TV. When the transition from analog to digital concludes on February 17, 2009, these consumers will be able to watch on-air television with the use of the converter. To help defray the converter cost, the NTIA has announced a coupon program, which will provide a $40 coupon toward the purchase, with a limit of two coupons per household. Over 35 million coupons will be available.

Two Digital Stream converter models, the DigitalSTREAM D2A1D10 and DigitalSTREAM D2A1D20, have been approved by the NTIA. The cost-effective ATSC off-air receivers, which measure 7.6" X 4.1" X 1.3", support all 18 ATSC digital television formats, and feature a simple design and user-friendly interface. The units also meet all of NTIA's CECB requirements, are RoHS compliant and exceed Energy Star requirements. MSRP is estimated to be $69.99.

"We are pleased to be the first company to offer an NTIA-approved digital-to-analog converter box. The converter will help ease the transition to digital technology for millions of on-air television viewers," says Ju H. Kim, Digital Stream CEO.

Digital Stream expects to unveil a comprehensive retailer/partner and customer support plan for the converters, including telephone technical support for consumers.

Remote Start - It's Not Just for Automatic Transmissions Any More!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_oDC_h1gp9v0/RvOMtCuVnrI/AAAAAAAAAFk/Ht2otEQa7u8/s320/653.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5112584707448872626" />

VISTA, Calif., Sept. 21 - Fall is in the air, and remote start season is coming to the Great Lakes, New England and the Mid- Atlantic regions -- anywhere that gets cold. However, this winter there's good news: Directed Electronics (NASDAQ:DEIX) , the largest designer and marketer in North America of consumer branded vehicle security and remote start systems based on sales, with leading brands like Viper, Python and Clifford, today announced the availability of an interface that permits the installation of remote start systems on manual transmission vehicles.

That means that, starting this fall and winter, owners of stick shift vehicles can press a button on their keychain remote from the comfort of their home or office, and from up to a mile away their vehicle's engine will start remotely, and its climate control system will pre-warm the car and defrost the windows. In other words, the comfort and convenience of remote start is no longer limited to automatic transmission vehicles.

According to Jim Minarik, President and CEO of Directed Electronics, "Our new 689M Neutral Safety Module will make the comfort and convenience of remote start available to millions of potential users in the cold weather states, who previously couldn't enjoy it because they don't drive automatics." With an MSRP of $99, the 689M is now available at thousands of authorized Viper, Python and Clifford retailers across North America and around the world. (Remote start systems sold separately, and authorized dealer installation of the 689M is required.) (Pink Sheets: CMCA), announced today that with its partner Observation Technology "Obstek" of Ivyland, PA has installed and updated an advanced Vessel Traffic Information System (VTIS) at the control tower for the Pilots' Association for the Bay and River Delaware, Lewes, Delaware.

According to Don Gilbreath, ComCam CEO, "ComCam network video surveillance products are ideally suited to merge radar and radio beacon data for video targeting objects at sea. Our devices have been location aware since we first shipped network cameras and video servers in 2000. ComCam interoperability extends geospatial mapping, object tracking, analysis and external event vectoring and recording. Location and ship data from the Automatic Identification System (AIS) tracking now required of all ships at sea over 300 tons and many passenger vessels is easily handled by C3(TM) and the ComCam operating system CamNos(TM)." http://www.comcam.net

Gilbreath added, "Centuries of history and current technology come together in the first town in the first state of America. During WWII concrete towers accommodated 16-inch naval guns to defend our shores. Over time these structures have remained in the Cape Henlopen dunes. Fusion can control fan speed based on temperature, single or dual I2C interface or analog control signal (PWM, 5.0 VDC). In addition, the Fusion offers ATCA compliance for managed or intelligent FRU cooling systems. In order to fully meet the telecommunication industry's first open standard for carrier-grade systems, the Fusion will communicate with shelf management modules via dual IPMBs as specified by AdvancedTCA PICMG 3.0. The control will provide FRU information, individual fan status and temperature readings. The Fusion accepts dual power feeds in the range from 36 to 75 VDC and regulates fan speed using a buck regulator control circuit. The board monitors tach pulses from the fans to provide fan status. Fusion-9 can control up to 9 fans and has a current rating of 9 Amps at 55 degrees C or less ($141.80 ea/200 - available now). Configuration of the Fusion is settable via I2C interface or options can be set at the factory to your specifications. Special and custom configurations are available. Benefits of using SmartFan include acoustical noise reduction, energy savings, greater product reliability, increased fan life and improved safety.
